CLASSIFICATION OF DEFECTS OF FLARELESS AND BEAM SEAL FITTINGS

Abstract: This handbook establishes a classification of commonly occurring defects applicable to flareless fittings and beam seal fittings specified in military specifications MIL-F-18280, MIL-F-85421, MIL-F-85720, and DoD adopted non-Government standards. Intended Use: This handbook contains inspection and test guidelines for beam seal and flareless fittings acquired by Government Agencies that are intended for use in aerospace fluid systems. Documents conforming to the requirements of this handbook are intended for use as DoD standardization documents and are listed in the DoDISS. This handbook established a common format throughout the DoD for the preparation of flareless fitting and beam seal fitting specifications and standards citing classification of defects.
