Abstract: This specification covers the AN/ASA-65(V) semi-automatic magnetic compensation system herein referred to as the equipment, which is used in aircraft equipped with Magnetic Airborne Detection (MAD) equipment.
The equipment covered by this specification includes five installation configurations consisting of the following items:

The AN/ASA-65(V) Magnetic Compensator Group should operate with the associated equipmented listed in 6.8.
Intended Use: The equipment covered in this specification is intended for use in aircraft incorporating magnetic anomaly detection systems to compensate for fixed magnetic fields of the airframe and for magnetic fields caused by maneuvers. The compensation will improve the system effectiveness of the magnetic anomaly system.
