CONNECTORS, ELECTRICAL, RECTANGULAR, HIGH DENSITY NANOMINIATURE, LOBE KEYED, PLUG, VERTICAL, SURFACE MOUNT TERMINATED

Organization:
DLA - CC - DLA Land and Maritime
Year: 1996

Abstract: This drawing outlines the requirements for a specific member of a family of compact high contact density (.025 inch) two piece nanominiature electrical connectors. These connectors are intended for printed circuit board, attached cable or fixed panel mounting/termination. The connectors detailed in this specification are single or double row contact configurations with attached wire/cable termination elements. Contact count ranges from 9 to 65 contacts. Jackscrews are provided for connector locking to a mating connector half.
Connectors specified in this specific requirements drawing must be capable of operating in the following environments;
a. Temperatures from −65°C to +125°C with temperature cycling.
b. Attitudes from sea level to 21,336 meters (70,000 ft)
c. Moisture conditions up to 100{}elative humidity.
d. Dust and fine sand atmosphere.
e. Salt laden atmosphere.
f. Vibration conditions to 20 g's.
g. Shock conditions up to 100 g's.
h. Free space vacuum environment
The complete part number shall be as specified on this item requirements drawing and constructed using the following format: CHART
insulators shall be fabricated using one of the following plastic materials:
    A Thermoplastic, type GST-40F per MIL-M-24519. B Thermosetting plastic, type GDI-20F per Mil-M-14. (NOT AVAILABLE) C Thermoplastic, type GLCP-30F per Mil-M-24519. (NOT AVAILABLE)

Connectors shall be terminated using the following termination techniques:
    A - Attached solid uninsulated wire harness. (NOT AVAILABLE) B - Attached stranded insulated wire harness. (NOT AVAILABLE) C - Printed circuit vertical through hole mounting. (NOT AVAILABLE) D - Printed circuit right angle through hole mounting. (NOT AVAILABLE) E - Printed circuit vertical surface mount. F - Printed circuit right angle surface mount. (NOT AVAILABLE) G - Ribbon cable. (NOT AVAILABLE) H - Flex circuitry. (NOT AVAILABLE)

The PIN shall include 5 digits to identify the total number of contacts. The first three digits will identify the number of signal contacts with the following two digits identifying the number of special contacts (shielded, power, etc.) CHART
Contact sealing is identified in the next to last character of the PIN as follows:
         S - Connectors are seated to prevent the entry of cleaning fluids, or conformal coatings into the contact area from the termination side of the connector.

Shell material is specified in the last character of the PIN. The available shell options and associated code letters to be used in the PIN. The available shell options and associated code letters to be used in the PIN are as follows;
1. Metal shell, corrosion resistant steel.
2. Metal shell, aluminum.
3. Plastic.
Mounting hardware is specified in DESC drawing 94045.
Intended Use: Connectors conforming to this drawing are intended for use when military specifications do not exist, and qualified military connectors that will perform the required function are not available for original equipment manufacturers applications. This drawing is intended to prevent the proliferation of unnecessary duplicate specifications, drawings, and stock catalog listings. When a military specification exists and the product covered by this drawing has been qualified for listing on a qualified product list (QPL), this drawing will be inactivated and will not be used for new design. The QPL product will then become the preferred item for all applications.
