GUIDANCE ON THE ASSESSMENT OF THE SAFETY AND SUITABILITY FOR SERVICE OF NON-NUCLEAR MUNITIONS FOR NATO ARMED FORCES - ED 3

Abstract: PURPOSE
The purpose of this AOP is to:
Provide a uniform guide to achieving a positive assessment that a non-nuclear munition is safe and suitable for use by NATO armed forces.
Recommend system safety design and development criteria for munition systems, subsystems, and components. Recommend system design and development criteria for the safety and suitability for service (S3) of munition systems, subsystems and components and the associated weapon system interfaces.
Present a methodology to identify and to reduce risks related to munitions and refer to analysis and test methods to demonstrate that the risks related to a munition are acceptable.
