Organization:
MSFC - NASA - MSFC - Marshall Space Flight Center
Year: 2008

Abstract: PURPOSE
This Marshall Work Instruction (MWI) defines the essential elements of a System Safety Program at Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC) for implementing the requirements in Chapter 3 of NPR 8715.3 and additional functions deemed key to successful System Safety Programs.
APPLICABILITY
This MWI applies to the personnel, programs, projects, and activities at MSFC and MSFC's Michoud Assembly Facility, including contractors and resident agencies to the extent specified in their respective contracts or agreements. ("Contractors," for purposes of this paragraph, include contractors, grantees, Cooperative Agreement recipients, Space Act Agreement partners, or other agreement parties.)
This MWI defines MSFC system safety functions. MSFC system safety is concerned with the safety aspects of aerospace flight and flight demonstration systems, related support and test equipment/facilities, computer software, and personnel during research, development, design, integration, test, flight, post- landing, recovery, and refurbishment whether for manned or unmanned systems. System Safety shall be emphasized throughout the life cycle of program flight systems, from inception until project completion, and includes an evaluation of all identified hazards.
