NASA MPR 8823.2 REV D

PRESSURE SYSTEM SAFETY AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Organization:
MSFC - NASA - MSFC - Marshall Space Flight Center
Year: 2008

Abstract: PURPOSE
To manage risk to people, facilities, and the environment, this Marshall Procedural Requirements (MPR) identifies minimum requirements from NPD 8710.5, NASA-STD-8719.17, applicable Federal Regulations, and National Consensus Standards (NCS) to certify safe to operate before use, inspected, and recertified periodically to maintain the certification status for all flight and ground-based pressure vessels and pressurized systems at Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC), and other offsite facilities managed by MSFC.
APPLICABILITY
This MPR applies to the personnel, programs, projects, and activities at MSFC, the Assembly Refurbish Facility (ARF), and the Michoud Assembly Facility (MAF), including contractors and resident agencies to the extent specified in their respective contracts or agreements. ("Contractors," for purposes of this paragraph, includes contractors, grantees, Cooperative Agreement recipients, Space Act Agreement partners, or other agreement parties.)
This MPR applies to all flight and ground-based, code and non-code pressure vessels and pressurized systems (including vacuum and boilers), that are MSFC-owned or used on MSFC, ARF, or MAF property (in permanent or temporary configurations) regardless of owner or user. Exclusions to pressure system certification requirements are noted in Chapter 4, or contact the MSFC Pressure Systems Manager located in Industrial Safety Branch (ISB) of Safety and Mission Assurance (S&MA).
