EXPERIMENT DATA MANAGEMENT PLAN TOWARD UNDERSTANDING PORE FORMATION AND MOBILITY DURING CONTROLLED DIRECTIONAL SOLIDIFICATION IN A MICROGRAVITY ENVIRONMENT INVESTIGATION (PFMI) ISS UTILIZATION FLIGHT 2 (UF-2)(PRE-FLIGHT)

Organization:
MSFC - NASA - MSFC - Marshall Space Flight Center
Year: 2001

Abstract: Purpose.
The primary purpose of the experiment is to promote our understanding of detrimental porosity formation and mobility during controlled directional solidification processing in a microgravity environment. This will be investigated by utilizing a transparent material, succinonitrile (SCN), so that direct observation and recording of pore generation and mobility during controlled directional solidification can be made.
