description abstractThis specification covers the requirements for chamois leather made from oil-tanned sheepskin fleshers.
Chamois leather shall be of the following grades, classes, and sizes, as specified (6.2).
Grade A - For straining water and other impurities from gasoline.
Grade B - General purpose (washing and polishing).
Class 1 - Pocket-shaped.
Size 12 × 14 inches.
Size 16 × 21 inches.
Size 20 × 26 inches.
Size 23 × 26 inches.
Class 2 - Natural skin-shaped, edges trimmed.
Size S - Small.
Size M - Medium.
Size L - Large. Intended Use: Grade A chamois leather is intended for use in straining gasoline and other petroleum fuels. Grade B chamois is intended for use in washing and polishing. Either grade is suitable for use in orthopedic and prosthetic appliances and where chamois is in contact with the skin; and for garment making and similar uses.
