description abstractPURPOSE. This Instruction establishes the authority, roles, and responsibilities of the Assistant Commandant for Command, Control, Communications, Computers and Information Technology (CG-6), designates this officer as the Chief Information Officer (CIO), and establishes the CG-6 directorate. The role of the CG-6 directorate is to enhance Coast Guard mission performance through efficient and effective application of Command, Control, Communications, Computers, and Information Technology (C4&IT). CG-6 accomplishes this by providing C4&IT assets that deliver accurate information to the right people to effectively accomplish their mission. CG-6 responsibilities include all Coast Guard operational, business, and infrastructure C4&IT assets.
