description abstract	This specification establishes the requirements for synthetic rubber gaskets for use in heat exchangers. Synthetic rubber gaskets shall be furnished in the following types, as specified (see 6.2): Type I - Compound utilizing a copolymer of butadiene and acrylonitrile as a basic material. Type II - Compound utilizing elastomeric polysiloxanes as a basic material. Intended Use: Gaskets are intended for use in shipboard heat exchangers.
