Abstract

This specification covers semi-portable frost/dew point monitors used to determine the moisture content of shipboard compressed air systems. <br>Monitors shall be of the following types and pressure ranges as specified. <br>Monitor types shall be as follows: <br><u>Chilled surface monitor (CSM)</u> - dew point temperature determined by visual or automatic detection of vapor condensation on a chilled mirror surface exposed to sample air (see <a>6.2</a>). <br><u>Direct reading hygrometer (DRH)</u> - dew point temperature determined by measuring the electrical properties of a sensing device exposed to sample air (see <a>6.2</a>). <strong>Beneficial comments (recommendations, additions, deletions) and any pertinent data which may be of use in improving this document should be addressed to: Commander, Naval Sea Systems Command, SEA 55Z3, Department of the Navy, Washington, DC 20362-5101 by using the self-addressed Standardization Document Improvement Proposal (DD Form 1426) appearing at the end of this document or by letter.</strong> <br>Pressure ranges for either type shall be as follows: <br><u>Low pressure (LP)</u>- 1 to 150 pounds per square inch (lb/in²). <br><u>High pressure (HP)</u>- 3,000 to 5,000 lb/in² (see <a>6.2</a>). <b><u>Intended Use:</u></b> Monitors are intended to support maintenance of Navy shipboard compressed air dehydrators. <br>
