description abstractThis Military Standard establishes uniform standards for the selection, installation, maintenance, and repair of currently-approved vibration damping materials, except those used for mounts and pipe damping. Information on mounts and pipe damping may be found in NAVSHIPS 0939-001-2010. It specifies the types of damping materials to be used in both submarines and surface ships, delineates those areas where the treatments normally are applied, and provides guidelines for their installation and maintenance. This document is intended to supplement individual ship specifications, and to provide guidance in those instances where specific direction has not been made available in the form of ship specifications.
