description abstractThe purpose of ALP-9(C) is to provide a common NATO Land Forces Logistic Doctrine. ALP-9(C) is a guide to NATO and national commanders and staff of the land component in optimising the use of available logistic resources in multinational operations from crisis to conflict. ALP-9(C) can also be used for NATO led operations involving non-NATO nations.
ALP-9(C) describes principles, concepts, and guidelines that apply to military forces in preparation for, deployment to, sustainment in and redeployment from an area of operations. ALP-9(C) focuses on providing doctrinal guidance for the land component HQ and its subordinate formations regardless of the level of command across the full spectrum of conflict. It is intended to provide guidance in the face of significant new challenges:
a. the possible need to integrate non-NATO forces,
b. the additional logistic and communications implications of non-Article 5 operations separated from Alliance infrastructure, and
c. the desire to implement multinational logistics with a view to maximising operational efficiency and/or cost effectiveness.
