description abstractThis specification covers solenoids for use in gun-firing mechanisms used by the Military Services (see 6.1).
Solenoids furnished are of the following classes, as specified on the applicable specification sheet (see 6.2).
     Class 1 - Solenoids for cannons.       Class 2 - Solenoids for machine guns.


Intended Use: Solenoids covered by this specification are intended for use in the operation of gun-firing mechanisms but may be used for other purposes where the characteristics herein specified are applicable. These solenoids are military unique because they must be able to operate satisfactorily at ambient temperatures of −65 to 12°7. Commercial solenoids are not designed to withstand such extreme temperature conditions.
