Abstract

This Standard describes the technical requirements and procedures necessary for the design, performance, and testing of new or unused non-rail-bound, diesel-powered, self-propelled machines for use in non-gassy underground mines.&#160; <br>This Standard applies to machines of 45 000 kg mass or less that are designed to operate at a maximum rated speed of 32 km/h or less.&#160; <br>Values specified in this Standard are given in SI (metric) units.&#160; <br>Braking system performance requirements and proof tests are not inc,Jded in the scope of this Standard. Brake construction, stopping performance, and test requirements are included in CSA Standard M424.3, <em>Braking Performance - Rubber-tired, Self-propelled Underground Mining Machines</em>, for a wide variety of underground mining machines.&#160; <br>In this Standard, "shall" indicates a mandatory requirement; "should" indicates a recommendation, or that which is advised but not mandatory. Notes accompanying clauses do not include mandatory or alternative requirements. The purpose of a note accompanying a clause is to separate from the text explanatory or informative material that is not properly a part of the Standard. Notes to figures and tables are considered to be part of the figure or table and are written as mandatory requirements.
